There are lots of events throughout the year which celebrate literacy in one form or another. Some of them are one off events. Some of them are fixed points in the calendar every year.
There are so many of them, and often they are all sponsored or run by different organisations. It can be very easy to miss them and only find out about them when it is too late to do anything about them.
This blog hopes to keep you up to date with blog posts about events large and small, but the home page updates with each new post, and you can only really search the archives if you know what you’re looking for.
With that in mind I have created a static page which I will try to update with events as they happen throughout the calendar year. I will fill the diary as early as possible to give you time to research the events and decide whether you want to be a part of the event or not.
You can access the static pages through the tabs above the main text. There are several static pages you can browse. There is a page about the importance of making your children literate, a page about how to use the rest of this site, and a page about why this site was set up in the first place, as well as diary dates.
Links for events will appear in the main links section on the side bar of the main page of the site.
I am always looking for new events and celebrations that will help teachers and parents promote literacy.
If you know of something I have missed, please leave me a message in the comments box and I will include it.
As we get nearer to 2014 I will make a new page to start promoting next year’s dates.
