The Beatles’ song: ‘Octopus’s Garden’ is to be made into a children’s picture book with illustrations by Aliens Love Underpants illustrator, Ben Cort.

Ringo Starr has given his permission for the lyrics of his song to be used as a basis for the story, in which five children will go on an undersea adventure in which they discover an octopus’s garden of their own.

The book will be published with an accompanying CD of the song and a previously unreleased track by Starr.

It will be available in the UK from October 24th 2013.

The Beatles’ songs are a rich source of material in the classroom.  Teachers in our school have used both individual songs and even the film of The Yellow Submarine to teach the children in various ways, and always with great success.  This book could be a valuable classroom resource, particularly in KS1.
