I am a mother of three children, two girls and a boy.

My son, Oscar, who is now eight (2015), started school in September 2011, and despite coming from a book loving family, struggled with learning to read. This was not something we ever thought we would have to tackle, and it really took us by surprise.

We worked hard with our son to support and nurture him, and to wake in him the enthusiasm for literature and reading that the rest of his family share.  We feel that raising him to be literate is one of the greatest gifts we can equip him with in preparation for his adult life.

This blog is a chart of that journey, and hopefully a resource for anyone who is struggling to help their child in the same way.

  1. I follow both your blogs (hope that doesn’t sound too stalker-y!) and, as ever, am about 2 weeks behind in my reading. So l’d love to be considered for book reviews, as you discussed a while back? As a bookworm/single Mum to a 6-year-old bookworm, l hope we’d have some useful thoughts. Thanks for considering us.

  2. Just to let you know that I’ve nominated you for the Beautiful Blogger Award as I love your blogs and wanted to acknowledge that. Please don’t feel you have to respond but here is the link if you get a chance to check it out.
